I was born the oldest of 9 children to James and Marion (Froling) Pompo in Marquette Michigan just following World War II. I spent my first 3+ years in a little village constructed for returning veterans on the campus of Northern Michigan University. The following two years my parents moved 9 times finally settling in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak. This instilled within me a desire to travel, to meet new people and to 'see the world'. Following high school, I went away for college and earned a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame. I then entered the US Air Force during the Viet Nam war in which I traveled a lot and obtained a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri. I stayed in the Air Force for 11 years mainly because of the travel options and the job security it offered. Ultimately I was assigned to a base in Germany. While there, with my family life falling apart, I was far from God which had begun back in my college days. Through several seemingly small interventions in my life I was directed to join a Bible study and eventually go to church. I saw for the first time and also felt the great love and forgiveness that God, the Father had for me. I realized that I had to make the effort to invite God into my life, and in 1978 I received God's Gift and Son, Jesus Christ into my life. I also received His forgiveness and was given His Spirit. I felt Him, I knew Him, and I knew that I needed to know more. Since that time in August of 1978, I have dedicated myself to studying His written word, have attended a few seminary courses and various seminars, and sat under the ministries of some good teachers of God's Word. I have shared my faith with people throughout the years. My gift for evangelism led my wife Toni and I to go to Brazil as missionaries in 2004 in the first of four short term trips. These trips were very rewarding in many ways, and we have seen hundreds of lives changed and the faith of people in Brazil strengthened during each of our visits. Someday, Lord willing, we will return to Brazil again, but now the Lord has our focus is on the people of Amberg and other communities in Marinette and Menominee Counties. Toni and I were married in May of 1997. We have 6 children (3 each) and 4 grandchildren. We have lived in Marinette County for our entire marriage and have been actively involved in Bible studies, marriage or couples groups, coffee house ministries both here and in Green Bay and in our church. Our heart for the people of Amberg and the surrounding towns is that they come to realize and know how much God loves them, that He is not a God of rules, but of love; and that everyone comes to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior Who has already done all the work we need to go to heaven and have His peace and order forever. Our Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are not a religion, but they are the "lost family" we've always missed and needed. God is interested in nothing else but our welfare and happiness, and He offers us freedom from guilt, the law, and internal struggles. We would love to share more with you personally and look forward to meeting you. May God richly bless you and your families! |
